    Just started the first 3 clear coats....color is metallic grey and I'm going to try for a smooth almost satin finish...I'm gettin desperate to get out on the road, so this tries my patience somewhat...decals were a pain to get right......

    Are you doing custom vinyl xj650 decals or looking for stock badges and stickers. There is a guy on ebay that cut some single color custom vinyl for my 750 http://myworld.ebay.com/gaffneyvinyl/

    great guy to deal with and verry reasonable pricing.

    fuggers: the decals were from bigcityimages.com - I ordered the 14 inch long "Yamaha" with tuning fork decal in silver - and just used the tuning fork portion which is 3in diameter. Urethane over the top as they are clear coat proof [cost $9 for a pair...] Now officially on the road x 1000 kms... :)
