    MeCasa,

If your bike is in real nice condition, contact Len Chacal and get the OEM seatcover. Yes, its quite expensive but NOTHING will look at as good.

If you want to see what one of his looks like, check out the 900rk in my gallery. That seat cover is one of Len's.

    Now, question for you--

If you have not registered your bike on the USA-Delivered XJ900RK Seca Database, could you please PM me (with the little 'pm' button at the bottom of my posts) and I'll tell you what info I need. Right now, the 59th RK to get registered was registered last night.

There is no cost to you, and I will also let you know where it comes in on the list, and if there are any unique facts that turn up for YOUR bike.

    Thanks,

    Dave Fox

I had mine made and installed at a local upholstery shop, $100, including passenger seat, and they are much nicer than the original. I'm sure the one Chacal has is great, but you still have to install it or have it installed.

I really need to cut back on the bikes I currently own so that I can get an FJ1300. I like the 900's but I haven't ridden them in years so if I have any sense I'll sell them. Bikes need to be ridden or they deteriorate.

The reason I mention that is at the current market value of a 900 (I figure$1800+/-) I've got to be careful putting money into it or I'll just be giving it away and I may need a battery ($100) and a carb job. I have gauges but these particular carbs are a bitch to set if I remember correctly. Something about a special Yamaha tool that differentiates between carbs :? It's been years since I messed with one but we're fixing to find out because I'm cleaning out space to push it in get it cleaned up and it didn't start last time I tried thus the push it in

Nobody will care much about the seat as long as it doesn't have rips and isn't mega cheap looking. $1oo doesn't sound bad but $33 sounds better unless it's garbage

That tool you are referring to is a YICS tool. Chacal has them, or you can make one. Cleaning carbs is time consuming but straight-forward if you follow Rick Massey's instructions to the letter. No short cuts and I speak from experience. Here's the link:

You will need to sync the carbs and here's a link to a homemade manometer like I used. If you build this one be sure to use glass bottles. There are other links for other homemade manometers. http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15650.html

I made my own screwdrivers by grinding down an old screwdriver I had and had no problems removing any of the jets, etc. Good luck.
