    Sitting here in the garage assembling the forks and realized the haynes only calls out a torque specification for the XJ750 and says to locktite it.

    Can anyone confirm the torque spec for this bolt on a 650J?
    I cant find it in the Haynes and I'm a little OCD. 14ft-lbs is a guess.

    Since the 650J and 750J use the same bolt. I'll go with the Spec for the 750J of 14 ft-lbs according to Haynes.

    "HCP8233 OEM fork tube damper rod RETAINING SCREW. For all XJ550, XJ650, XJ700, XJ750 (except XJ750 Seca), and XJ900RK models. Use 1 per tube. Each:
    $ 5.00"

    As the 650 is the basis for both bikes. The 750 is just suplementary info. You should be safe going with the 750 spec.

    Took me a while to connect the dots. I remembered reading somewhere that some XJ650's were shipped with the 750 motors, then "ding". check chacals listings :oops:

    Edit: I did try search before posting though. lol
