I tried the search but couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. Quick question; I have an 83 Seca 550 with 35mm forks & single front disc brake, caliper is mounted on the right fork. I'd like to upgrade to dual disc setup, but I don't think the 550 was offered with a dual disc. Is there such a beast or should I look for a 35mm xs650 dual disc fork/brake/wheel setup to swap in?

    Cheers!

The European and rest of the world xj550 had a duel front brake set up. Try searching UK eBay and any other European countries eBay for a cheap twin disk front-end.

The 550R WAS offered with dual discs-- in Europe. But I'm also not 100% sure if they had 35mm forks or 36mm forks.

A word of advice: On a bike as light as the 550 Seca, you don't really need a second disc. All you really need to do is upgrade the stock front brake, and thus avoid adding all of that unnecessary unsprung weight.

EBC floating rotor, EBC pads and stainless lines, on my '83:

Fitz - your brake disk: is that an aftermarket one, or did you have the original drilled out? Or, did the 83 actually come with a perforated disk?

Lastly, are those rubber bellows on your forks also stock? If not, where did ya get them?

That is, as above, the aftermarket EBC floating rotor; it comes drilled. I painted the hub black. The fork boots are a Kawasaki part.

THIS is a drilled stock rotor, also with stainless lines, on my '81:
