What do you mean by the tank is jacked? Is it rusted through or is it just rusty on the inside?

If its just rusty on the inside u can try electrolysis. Youtube it and if you need more details PM me. There are other great tank restoration processes available. some with YT vids. Then I'd finish the tank with one of the liquid liner products avail.

If the bike runs good and all you need is a tank then maybe buying another tank isnt a bad idea since you only spent 50 on the bike. However, if your on a budget, the bike needs other things like tires and brakes, or your just cheap like some of us I'd consider the restore route. Unless, you find a tank cheaper than one of the processes.

no not quite as cunning as the american picker guys! i got the bike from a lady i did some hvac work for.she got it in a divorce agreement and it just sat in her garage.the tank is very rustt inside and has several leaks along the bottom edge where the welds are.so im thinking its beyond savable.
