has anybody tried this big bore kit from ebay

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/130596518069?ss ... 1438.l2649
    Seller is cruzinimage_co

I have a cracked cylinder on my XJ 750 Maxium and I have purchased a used replacement from ebay. I am curiouse about this kit if I need to bore the cylinder this could be an easy option, but I am cautious about buying from a seller from another country any help would be appericated
    Thanks in advance

Have you considered just replacing the sleeve where the cylinder is cracked? That may be a very much less expensive way to go. The sleeves are easy to press out. Any machine shop should be able to press in a replacement sleeve. I have no idea as to where to get one though. As for getting the big bore kit, you will have to get the cylinders bored.

That's not a bad price for what your getting. If you go bigger you don't want to try and hone to get there. A master mill mech could maybe hone a round bore, I wouldn't try it as its way hard and would take forever, but if you do get it re-bored by a machine shop your compression should be stellar. Shop around if you go this route as some will straight up try to rip you off.

Thats what I got. I haven't started my engine yet from getting it bored. Cost me a bill to get it bored.

streetbrawler750 I take it you had no problems getting your parts from Japan when you fire it up let us know how it turns out. I am looking at it for a winter project, along with a lot of other things that need attention. There are a few machine shops here that do MC work, I would not try to bore this myself. I am cautious of buying from ebay been burned once all ready.

I've bought some brake parts for my girlfriends Honda from that seller. They showed up pretty quick too. I'd say go for it.

I am a bit late on this....but I have bought a fw items....including full gasket kit and had no problem. Arrived pretty promptly.

My only problem with thi s"Big Bore" thing i sthat you are taking all the meat out of the cylinder walls. You go from the standard 65mm bore to 68mm and that is almost equal to the 4th size rebore. Anything goes wrong...you will need all new cylinder jugs....

Yeah I had no problems, there was plenty of meat. If something goes wrong a guy might need more than jugs, might need the whole motor. Oh well, the risks we take....

Just got the big bore kit myself. Have you bored your cylinders yet, and what clearances did you reference to the pistons? The machine shop I called said they needed those numbers so I emailed the seller. They said they didn't have that information.

The piston-to-cylinder clearance specs are listed in the service manual.

Yes I finally found the specs.! Took it to the machine shop, because the bore is so small they're charging me more as they have to use their small machine $340.00 + 12 % tax.
