I have finally measured my valves.. none appear in spec. No wonder i was dreading this task. I used the retainer tool from Chacal, hemostats and a craftsman 40804 feeler gauge set.
Some shims had no markings. Thankfully i had digital calipers.

    SOOOoo.... Here are my findings:

    CYL Intake
    1 0.00mm (0.000") Y270
    2 0.08mm (0.003") Y275
    3 0.08mm (0.003") Y275
    4 0.10mm (0.004") Y270

    Cyl Exhaust
    1 0.10mm (0.004") Y285
    2 0.15mm (0.006") Y280
    3 0.13mm (0.005") Y260
    4 0.00mm (0.000") Y285

    Based on these tolerance ranges:
    Intake: 0.11-0.15mm(0.004-0.006")
    Exhaust: 0.16-0.20mm(0.006-0.008")

Here is what I estimate I need for shims:
    Intake
    1. Y255
    2. Y270
    3. Y270
    4. Y265

    Exhaust
    1. Y275
    2. Y275
    3. Y255
    4. Y275

    Do my estimates appear correct?

Is there a "shim pool" going on anywhere that i could do some swappin' with?

    Thanks!

The only problem that I can see is the #4 Exhaust should be a 265.

Deffiantely get a compression test after getting cylinders #1, and #4 back in spec.

You can contact hogfiddles about the shim pool that he has.

Ghost is right on both counts.

Holy tight valves there, James! Definitely going to affect your tuning efforts once it's back in spec.

Agreed, and the #1 intake and #4 exhaust will be suspect if the compression test comes back low on those two. Being that tight they might have suffered some since they weren't able to close properly-compression test will tell.

And those shims had markings but since they've been in for so long they've simply been worn off. Probably never been touched before since factory roll out.

Thanks guys! i've PM'd hogfiddles and we'll see about some swappin.

I figured the unmarked shims might have never been replaced and the stamping had wore off. This was probably 4 shims that had slight to no stamps.

I did a compression check maybe 2-3 weeks ago and they seemed consistent on all 4 cyls (135 to 140).

Will definitely do another compression test after we get the shims swapped and all in spec.

    Thanks again!
