I have an 82 Maxim and was putting L.E.D turn signals on it. I have an electronic L.E.D. flasher on it and I also have resistors, but when you turn them on they both come on and blink together. I can not get them to work one at a time. Can anyone help me please, and tell me what it may be?

dont have a clue, but look in the FAQ section. I know there are posts there on how to do it and make it work.

Both wired to the same flasher relay?

Not sure. I put the L.E.D. flasher in place of the old one then I plugged the L.E.D. turn signals into the same plugs as the originals with the resistors added. Like I said they will come on and blink but they both come on together and blink together. They will not blink one at a time.

It's going to be the difference in configuration/wiring between the original flasher and the aftermarket unit you got. It won't be a straight plug-in; the original flasher had terminals for wiring leading to the cancelling unit.

You'll need your wiring/circuit diagram and a circuit diagram for the new relay (or at least what they think each terminal should be connected to) to figure it out. It won't be plug-n-play.

Thanks Fitz. So I will have to do away with the self cancelling unit is what your saying correct?

Again, it CAN be made to work; but it requires a bit of electronics re-engineering to do so. I believe member SQLGuy did a write-up on it. But as for a (semi) plug-n-play installation, yes, you'll be giving up the self-cancelling feature. Aftermarket relays have no provision for that circuitry.

I don't mind giving up the self cancelling feature.
