I have started on my XJ550. I have decided to start by cleaning up years of neglect. I have removed the electronics from under the seat, including the battery. I plan on using my pressure washer and engine degreaser to remove the baked on oil under the oil cooler. Is there anything I should not spray down?

I have the battery on a charger out of the bike.

The previous owner said the bike ran, but had to be push started. As I am a total noob to bikes I was trying to get an idea where to start? I tested the current in and out of the kill switch. I have current out, but am not sure where to go from there.

Does anyone here have a copy of the digital repair manual. I have seen them for download, but I don't really like downloads. And most of my computing is done on my phone.

DO NOT use a pressure washer on the engine/transmission. Actually NOT recommended anywhere, except for parts that are already off the bike.

The oil seals and gaskets on the engine/trans were meant to keep oil in, not high-pressure, (uncompressible) water out. You can inadvertently drive water deep into where it ought not go. Including wheel bearings and brakes, for that matter.

Hose pressure it is then..... :D
I wasn't sure, I've seen the dirt track guys at the car wash all the time using the pressure washers.

    Thanks!
