If you splashed some on it, rinse quickly with WD40 and you should be ok. Otherwise... I'm not sure what laquer thinner will do to treated rubber so I can't finish the sentence. Replacements are a dealer only item last time I went looking. $30 or so a piece. It is very important you get them to lay flat in the groove so they seal correctly. Ensure the locator tab is in it's corner.
    Hope your efforts are rewarded.

After my first reassembly my start-spray test showed I had a false air intake around two of the diaphragms/covers. I then used silicone grease, applied with a small brush in the groove and outer rim as well as on the outer top edge of the diaphragm (where there´s a small sealing lip). I haven´t tested whether it´s airtight yet but it definately helped seating the diaphragms.

The start-spray test also showed false air intake at the vacuum-nipple rubber plugs. New ones showed quite a difference in inner diameter/"softness".

If the above doesn't help, I've had limited success using 3M spray adhesive sprayed into a cup and applied sparingly in the groove only as a contact adhesive. (carb side only) This will hold a hopelessly wrinkled diaphragm in the groove longe enough to get the cap on. I'd try the silicone grease first, though.

i try to get the diaphram to fit but i think its just stretched out too much and im pretty sure i need a new one. while im at it i might as well grab two since one of my needles is kinda discolored and i dont think its affecting anything but i might as well replace it. now to find the parts.
