    Hey guys,

Taking a spin yesterday my clutch chord popped out (the place where it hooks in below your right knee). I think the previous owner didn't tighten it on there correct;y. Anyway not a big deal I quickely worked out what was wrong and popped it back in. However, I noticed that afterwards, the clutch was much much looser, making gear changes stickier and getting into neutral nearly impossible. I'm thinking I just need to tighten the clutch cable up a bit. I'm a complete noob and haven't got my hands on a manual yet so anybody any idea if I'm on the right track and how I go about tightening up the clutch cable if I am.

One other thing wrong with the bike is that the throttle handle is loose. By that I mean if you twist it in the opposite direction to that of acceleration, it slips backwards... it doesn't stay fixed. Hope that makes sense. I think I just need to take it off and glue it into place.

Thanks for reading my post in advance guys and for any advice you can offer me.

    Much appreciated,

    Ben

This is what I followed last time I adjusted mine. The second thing Rick says is the actual adjustment procedure. The first part about the throw-out and all that is good info, but you probably just need to take up slack. The knob up at the lever is for fine adjustment, the main adjustment is done at the other end of the cable. Anyway, here is the link(it's in Rick's signature, so it's not too hard to find0

DO NOT run the cable "dead tight." Doing so will immediately shorten the life of the throwout 'wafer' bearing.

You need about 1mm~3mm play at the lever. The best way to do this is to set the adjuster up at the bar about halfway in/out. Then adjust the locknuts at the bottom to take most of the slack out of the cable; then fine-tune at the handlebar adjuster.

It does sound as though the grip is slipping on the throttle drum. You're on the right track.

Thx bigfitz52. Still waiting for a chance to look at this (no garage and poor Irish weather) but will note these things once I go at it.
