I had almost forgotten...my 650 did it too....this one same same...when you turn the bars to the lock (right) the rpms rise a bit.

I looked for the cause pretty intensely on the 650 for some time, and couldn't find any reason other than something just happens to the shape of the cable in it's various turns when it's put in that position.

You'd think it would happen in the other direction if the cable was being tugged...but no...

Anyone else ever notice this, if so, figure out why?

try turning out the throttle cable adjuster so the internal cable has more slack.

When i bought my bike the PO had the same thing going on, and when i would go to park it it would rev like a banshee. slackened up the barrel adjuster and boom, problem solved.

I did that the other day when I put the carbs back on, ran it out enough that it was visually slack a bit at idle...maybe I'll take another look with the bars turned though...

theres a pic of the adjustment, screw the barrel in/out for the internal cable slack adjustment.

Also, be sure to snug the lock nut back up to the barrel so that it doesent move around and tighten/loosen due to vibration.

Mine did it when I first got it because the PO ran the bake line so that it interrupted the path of the throttle cable housing when turning to the right. I knew what it was all along when I bought the bike, because it relates directly to my job a as a bicycle repair guy (iei, if you have too short a brake cable, it'll apply the brakes when you turn, or if they are poorly routed, etc) When I did new stainless lines, It was an easy fix (and put my mind to ease in visual way). Now no change in rpm when I turn
