I bought some new super bike style handlebars with about a 1/2 inch rise for my 83 maxim 650 and I dont know how to figure out how long my new clutch cable will need to be, any ideas?

I took my old cable to a dealership and told them I needed one longer and they matched one up. I think it was for a Virago.

You're going to need a new m/c along with those bars. And your mirror mounts will be all outta whack

I plan on using bar end mirrors but was told the m/c would be ok so I thought I would try with the old one.

Tape a piece of wire to the existing cable and do a mock-up of where it will run. Cut the wire to that length and then measure it. If its shorter just work out how much shorter and subtract the amount.

The MC will work on the bars as long as it doesn't sit at an awkward angle. It was designed for bars that were a little slanted.

If the MC doesn't work out, the 85-86 700's had a straight mount MC.
