I had everything working. Then I rerouted my wires and now no spark. I have power to my coils. Pulled the relay linked to the side stand.
I have searched and searched but haven't been able to find anything. It was working, I unplugged a few connections and then it won't fire. It turns over just fine. Battery just came off a charger. I read to disconnect the black with a white stripe wire to make sure that it wasn't any safety features keeping it from firing. I have to be missing something right? Anyone got any ideas? [IMG]

Power to the coils is only half the equation....you have to have a on/off signal when the motor cranks, as your timing pickups cause the coils to discharge. No signal, no fire.

Checked fuses? I popped a main for the ignition while shuffling wires into the new headlight bucket....

My fuses are good. Checked em. By eye, and with a meter.

One lead to the coils should show you constant power, the other should alternate on and off as you crank it. If not, work back through that circuit.

You say you did disconnect the bullet connector with black wire from the TCI? Is it still unplugged? Is that relay still pulled or what?

Actually, come to think, you're looking for completion of ground alternating on the other lead...if it works same as a car's...check it that way. One side of test light in the hot 12v lead to coil, check for ground at the other while cranking...should flash on and off...

Dumb question but I gotta ask...didn't shut off the kill switch and not notice, didja?

Don't know how many times I've pulled that one...

No. Actually have them tied together. And the motor turns over.

Have you tried checking the connections you unplugged? The might not be tight.

Pulling the sidestand relay will make the bike think the stand is down.

If you want to disable the safety circuit, you need to unplug the safety cutoff relay. Being an '82, I'm pretty sure your bike has both.
