That is definitely high. For the 750s it should be around 1050 (+/- 50) RPM, according to the book.

    That is high.

Spec is in the service and owners manual. I also read that it's on the side cover. I believe for a 750 Seca it's 1050 rpm +/- 50 rpm. I keep mine a hair over 1000 rpm.

There are many reasons for a high idle, including poorly adjusted idle, bad sync, vacuum leaks, bad mixture settings, dirty carbs, or some combination of those. What have you done to the intake/carbs so far?

Could also be adjusted in the cable tensioner at the handlebar or the main idle adjustment nut behind the carbs!

Try the simple things first.. !

2 months and about 500 miles ago, local Yamaha shop cleaned carbs and sync'd them and adjusted the valves

Definitely high what have you tried, if anything, to correct this? I would start it and adjust the throttle screw, big nob under carbs, and see how she runs. Once you have set that to 1050 rpm, plus or minus a few rpm, go from there. You have to have it idle before you can do any more trouble shooting. It will either idle or stall out either way you will be able to see what you need to do.

given that a shop has done the work before, don't be surprised if you have to redo a lot of it.

But definitely the idle screw adjustment, along with making sure the cable has the proper slack and isn't hanging up is the first thing to check. However, if you can't make it idle at 1050 rpm, or it won't come back down after revving, then you'll be looking at the list that I gave.

Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost?
