Hey does anyone have a suggestion on what kind of solution to use when cleaning carbs in a sonic cleaner? The tank is heated. I tried Simple Green and water, however it tarnished the aluminum and it is now a darker gray color. It did a great job cleaning all of the little ports and the jets however there has to be something better to clean the aluminum.

I used lemon juice in mine turned up the heat worked real good. But it is a bit of a trial and error thing. Next time going to try some Gunk solvent and a little bit of heat to get rid of the greasy crap then go to the lemon juice.

I can tell you that Gunk is a waste of time and money on these carbs. It made absolutely no difference on mine. The aluminum boat wash that Polock mentioned is the only thing short of manual labor that will brighten up the grayed look of the aluminum on the carb.

Gunk isn't to brighten its to remove all the greasy crap build up. The lemon is to brighten it up the carbs.

Well, let me elaborate a bit. When I used Gunk, it didn't cut any of the nasty build up on mine. For me, it was a waste of time and money. Easy Off oven cleaner on the other hand did a good job with the least amount of scrubbing, on the carbs and the engine.
