Anybody here ever put drag bars or a broomstick style on an '85 Maxim X?

I'm considering it but I'm not sure my choke handle will smack the tank at the end.

Just wanted to see if anybody has done it and what I can expect to get myself in to.

I've got em on my 82 650. They used to smack the tank, but I turned em up just a bit.

I do however, find them wildy uncomfortable.

Actually after riding a good bit, I'm going to switch that to only mildly uncomfortable

    Do you have pictures?

I think the problem I'm going to have is the choke handle, it sits right under the headlight/turn signal switch. Might just have to relocate it.

The bondo is because the way the po had it set up, the choke did used to bang into the tank, and actually dented it up pretty well. You can see the that the bars have a slight pull back to them. I angled them up just a bit and adjusted the choke so I can get the clearance.

    I like it!

I had a pretty good dent in my tank from the PO as well. Not sure if it got there from another set of bars or if the bike was dumped, but it was pretty obvious it was from the choke leaver.

On a side story, about a month and a half ago I had the tank off and I was putting on some bondo as well. I picked it up to move it to another work bench and dropped the gas tank. Of course, it went face-first into the cement garage floor... I cried a little, put it back on the bike and bolted it back down and didn't look at it for a week. I ended up bringing it to a body shop to get it fixed. I'm an idiot...

I had em before I put z bars on. Only issue I had was the choke "switch" would hit. The little lever... But I'm sure it cold be turned like previously stated

I'm thinking about getting either some rises or euro bars...
