I'm kind of proud of myself for this, so if anyone knows of it, please don't rain o my parade. So I got 50k on my motor. Leaks oil like a Harley from the valve cover, and ticks on the valves.. Anyways.. Bought the gasket, and stripped 3 of the bolts. Through my parts motor in there.. (Nightmare but different story). Dreading of the evil drill out and tap theory... I used every known tool in my box. So to make a long story even longer... I gently used a hammer to tap the closed end of a 9mm 12 point wrench over the Alan head... And click, they break free!! I'm so excited right now that all I need is new bolts and not a tap set. Figured I'd share my story sience so many guys have helped me here. P.s..... I'm sure heat and on do t hurt either!! Safe travels my friends. I look forward to putting this beast back in my baby and trying for another 50!! :)

Congrats man on the save. These bikes can have more ups and downs than a soap opera, but the little victories like that make it all worth it!

ahh, i think i follow you now, so you have a maxim type motor with allen cap bolts holding the valve cover, and you rounded the cap bolt allen head , not the threads, on the bolt or head, right?
well done on getting them out

Yes. Sorry. 80 maxim 650. Inverted Alan heads. All but 3 came out easy. The other 3 rounded out. I had to drill one that snapped ony parts motor, and it SUCKED!!
