Anyone ever tried to replace the Rear Brake Master Cylinder Fluid Level Sensor on an '82 XJ1100?
Mine is bad and I don't want to go to the trouble of pulling the master cylinder to see if it can be replaced...or if I have to buy a whole new master cylinder...
Could have sworn I've seen new sensors on Ebay, but I can't find one right now...

They can be replaced but its not easy. It can only be done with a NEW one. The rubber gasket on a used one will not seal. The sensor on my current XJ11 is bypassed because it does not work. Thats OK because there is also a sight glass so I can see the fluid lavel.

It's kind of a press in thing?
I bypassed mine also, but I like to keep everything working as much as I can...

There is a gromet made into the switch that seals the resovior, it kind of does press in. Taking it out will tear the gromet, the rubber gets hard over time. Removing it will tear it, a used one has the same problem. They use to be available OEM new but I have not checked in a while. I think they were around 70$.
