Shimming carb needles

    Hi , can anyone tell me the effect that adding shims to raise the carb needle height has on the mixture . I gather it richens the mixture, but at what particular part of the rev range ?

    Lower 48 in general. Otherwise Central Mitten.
    IIRC. Shimming the needle works in the mid to upper rpm range.
