I was doing some cleaning up on the under side of my motorcycle and spraying it with the hose and a little part went flying off.

I assume it's from the kickstand or maybe exhaust because that was the area I was spraying. Looks like some kind of spacer or bracket or something, see the picture:

I know some smart-alec will say "pen" that is there for scale :)

Whatever it is it sure doesn't look like a Yamaha factory part. It looks like a home-made piece of some sort. What's the other end look like?

Is your exhaust and everything stock?

Well, nothing non-factory in that area that I know of, fitz. It's possible this was already on the ground and the spray of water just moved it, making a "falling metal part" noise and it's not off my bike. The reason I suspected it was from the side stand, is I have an issue there already, thought this might be some kind of gusset between the stand and the frame mounting points....I haven't really looked close yet, too dark.

Edit: Oh and did you mean the other end of the part that showing there? it just comes up and has a very slight bend at the end of it.

Maverick, by peg, do you mean foot peg (like pedal) or the bottom of the stand?

foot peg, it wraps the outer bottom corner so if you scrape them while cornering you don't just eat the rubber away.

Ah, that explains the scratches and stuff on mine. It definitely looks like it hit the ground at some point. I wonder if I'll have to glue it back on or something...

It'll never stay with any kind of adhesive (rubber+metal) no universal bonder. If you have no OE screws or they don't grip, then drill it out and fit one size up. They only get used if you corner near the limit. Or ride in concrete ditches.

they aren't screwed on originally, I believe the only bonding is from the original molding.

Yeah, Mav, there never were any screws, looking at your pic, the shape of the rubber holds it. If I can't get it to slide back on, my pegs are pretty worn anyway, I'll just look for some replacements.

Bingo. Len has brand-new OEM footpeg rubbers but they no longer have the metal skidplate molded in.
