just bought a '81 650 maxim, im new to all things 2 wheeled and i bought a bike, that was "supposed" to be complete. i need the pieces that connect the carbs to the airbox, a choke cable, and the side body pannels( the kinda triangle shaped ones) if anyone could help me, i would forever be in their debt. ive worked on cars, but like i said, bikes are new to me. i bout this bike, and it didn't run. the carbs were rebuilt (supposedly) and my battery is dead. i know i need new batt, so i cant test things yet, but i have always loved this style of cycle, and its well worth the work to me. my mom rode one back in '83 and its got a little nostalgia for me. PLEASE HELP

Welcome to the fold! Being partial to the 81 Max (got one myself), I'd say you got the best of the bunch. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles but is solid as a rock. I'll poke around in my spares box. I can't bet I've got it all but we'll see how close I get.

I would agree, no frills. Just a great base to start off on. Docile handling, easy maintenance, good first bike.
I found a choke cable for you, I'm working on the rest (think I have the airbox boots...).

I've got a set of the sidecovers. I'll get a pic up soon.
