i finally just bought my own bike was going for a xs1100 but found a great deal on my new 81 xj750 didnt run great but carb rebuild fixed that (first time ever rebuilding carbs) ok so to the point the bike runs great except for two issues all of my monitoring system warnings are on fuel, tail, sidestand, etc and it doesnt indicate when blinkers or brights are on also the fuel gauge is gone but all switches works fine brights come on blinkers work maybe the cluster is fried ? ALSO WHEN riding i hear a rattling sound but bike runs great it scares me

sounds like there is worn/torn wire somewhere that gives the lights on the panel a constant current, I think the best way to find out is to get a hold of a wiring diagram and open the cluster up.

I'd start by pulling all the connectors apart and giving them a good clean with your favourite contact cleaner. All the symptoms are there for a dodgy connector.
Dont be too quick to jump on the "my computer failed" bandwagon before you eliminate all the other stuff....
