So, I used to film with my old High-8 camcorder by putting it through the sunroof of my car and closing the roof onto it. Worked surprisingly well. The videos gave you the impression you were sitting on the hood, lol, as a roof and a hood look about the same from an inch away.

I've been trying to figure out how to occasionally do videos while riding. These GoPro cameras have really caught on, but I don't really feel like buying one. Also, my phone films in higher def than the GoPros I've seen. I have seen some jury-rigged camera mounts made out of car phone-holders. That's one idea. I could gaffer tape that thing on there, but that would be a one-time deal, too much trouble to do every time. I even saw a guy pull out some of the foam in his chin bar and put his iphone in there, looking out the visor. Won't work on my (modular) helmet. No foam to speak of, and my camera-phone's lens isn't at one end like an iphone.

Any ideas? Anybody do any POV videos from their bike? I'm kinda surprised I don't see them posted all the time, they are pretty entertaining. And if you film a lot you'll eventually get something crazy on video. Like I almost ran into a herd of deer one night in October, wish I had footage of that. Luckily cars had slowed down, giving me a hint something was there, but I couldn't see them till I was right on top of them. Anyway, if I figure it out, you guys will be the first to know 8)

i did that yesterday, with my cell phone. the results were not what i wanted. i've tried frame mount with the evo 4g phone, helmet mount with the kids go-pro equivalent and stop motion with a android app called "clayframes". i'll get some links up later.
search on here for "keychain camera" really for 10$ ya can't beat it

I must say I'm kinda' surprised. All this knowledge and skills and nobody has designed a inexpensive universal xj visor or attachment that video records as we ride. It'd be a $ maker.

ahh, whoops. utube has updated recently and lock all my vids. Have unlock that one now.

I use the standard GOPRO adhesive mounts. 1 on my helmet and several on different parts of the bike.

I also use a chest mount which is how this next video was captured on the Strezlecki track...

Here is a little clip I did with a C-clamp taped to my old helmet, holding my android phone. (sorry for the upside-down crotch shot as I put helmet on)

Wind noise is a HUGE problem, if you want to watch it, mute it. And this was after I had tried to cover the microphone, have to try something else.

Also, cluster-f___ when I pulled over at the end, was in some random driveway and person picked that time to leave, lol. Had to pull across street, I AM wearing gloves, I had taken them off to remove camera.

Luckily that guy in the Audi TT stepped on it when he had a chance, that stretch of road is a lot more fun with no traffic, that was only like the first 10% of it, if that.

I have the worst luck with grips. That is my third set, and the right one is damaged. I had replaced worn out originals for some foam ones, tipped bike over in garage into some boxes, tearing one like a week after putting them on. Then, got those ones you see, maybe two weeks later, had an alternator issue and got hit by a car while pushing my bike. Cracked the right grip, again. Sigh.

Edit: Thanks for the links, Polack, I couldn't see them before because I was on my phone. Here's another idea I like(although I'd have to wear contacts instead of my glasses)

i think the 10$ keychain camera is the best bang for the buck.
vibration seem to be my biggest problem but this doesn't help (9:16 of the last one) little speedo on the left is right.

You may have better luck if you would think about mounting directly to the handle bars or crash bars! I've seen cameras attached to the end of the passenger foot pegs, interesting perspective!
