I'm going to start rewiring my bike tomorrow. ( 1982 750 Maxim) Sometime during the chopping process, the connection coming from the stator got pulled off and went AWOL. This is the female plug with three white wires on it. It connects with a male connection going to the regulator. My question is, the male plug has two vertical legs and one horizontal. If I put bullet connectors and sockets on all 6 white wires, do they have to be a certain white to a certain white or can I just hook em all up and go on? Oh, I'm using the minimal diagram I found here. Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't matter how they hook up. All three whites will be A/C output off the stator. One may have a splice in it that goes to the headlight relay.

Are you going to be using double crimp terminals on everything? The standard crush type terminals you get at the hardware store aren't always that good. I'm not sure what your budget is, but you may want to head over to www.vintageconnections.com and check out one of their kits that comes with a crimper. Mike's XS also sells them.

This is the type of terminal you can get using a proper crimper and terminal:

Just FYI, no headlight relay in a 750 Max. Start switch cuts it off, but it's just a straight wiring connection, key on equals headlight on.

That makes it simple. It's odd what options are mixed between models even within the same year.
