    Hi all

I started off on a Yam YBR 125, then switched to Hondas (nsr125, cb250, varadero125).

Anyway, I am now back on the Yamaha's having just won an 1991 XJ600 on Ebay for just under 400 UK pounds.

This will be my first "big" bike which im pretty excited about, but was wondering if there are any common problems with these pre-diversions?

Also, I have noticed that some models have exhausts on either side and some only on one? I have always swapped out the end cans on these, so any recommendations ? :)

Going to collect it tomorrow so any tips would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Sure there are.

Usually the problem is the previous owner(s) neglecting maintenance, so you have to check and adjust valve clearances and inspect and refurbish brakes. Also, dirty carburetors and weathered rubber parts are a common ailment.

So all common stuff really. Most of bikes (apart from the dero) have been bought after sitting for ages, so used to perished rubber and varnished carbs.

    Many thanks :)
