1982 XJ650 Tennessee

    Okay, selling this for my friend. He'd rather have some money than this right now. I'm gonna be quick about it, it had what looked like CB750 carbs on there, so I bought a Hitachi bank from here that supposedly hadn't been used. Looks good, but I suppose it needs a cleaning and the intake boots. Needs a starter relay, probably a fresh battery, and maybe a better wiring fix than what the PO gave it. Sidecovers are gone he says, emblems are all in rough shape. Tank is a little rusty, but I've seen much worse. All the lights, gauges, etc. work but the cluster needs the lenses replaced. Would not use the tires that are on there. I think the seat is a Drag Specialties one with the pan hacked to fit. I'll edit in the mileage when I know it, but I believe it was average.

    I rode this when he first got it, and it kinda sold me on the idea of shaft drive, but I got an airhead instead. I would say it's far too complete and near-working to consider parting out, and I don't have time for that anyhow. He just wants it out of the garage. Pretty good candidate for custom work or just returning to reliable condition. As far as normal aging stuff, it's very typical. There's surface rust on some things, but nothing looks like it came out of the ocean. Either way you've got a lot to work with for $400. Local pickup is the only way to come get it.     I was considering fixing this one for myself as he said I could have it, but I got a BMW (airhead) from a friend and have no need for that many bikes.

    The bike is in Alpine. I'm back and forth between there and Cookeville during the week.
