I had posted earlier, wondering what I could sell my 1984 XJ750RL for. I was hoping to get rid of it for a Triumph, but I picked up another which has also been painted a non-original color. Cost me $400, only has 1500km on it (There is a story behind the low km's) and needs mostly cosmetic repairs as it runs and drives fine. I may be keeping both and not bothering with a Triumph. That and the 2 look smashing! I love the colors, love the bike all around so they might both have a permanent home now! And just in time for Christmas, I guess this new one is my present from myself!

Have you ever bought a bike that you never planned on keeping, but it started to grow on you and you fell in love with them? What bike was that for you? I think its a good time of year to be reminiscing about bike memories, at least for me, with snow, can't be doing any riding until Spring!

I would also like to wish everyone on the Forum a very merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or other holiday you celebrate, and a happy New Year with lots of safe riding! :)

Great looking Seca and an interesting color choice! Don't think I've seen that before but it looks nice, would you call it gold?

Hate to admit this and probably not what you were hoping for, but it seems that just about everything I buy or 'take on' grows on me and I end up loving it. I have had to part with many of those 'loves' and it hurts each time. I sold a '99 Saturn car for scrap a few years back, it went over 270k miles and regularly got around 40mpg highway, just a great car to get somewhere in, but it was time as the repair way outstripped the value. It was very sad to watch the forklift 'stab' and flip it :-(

Probably if I had a really big chunk of land, and good storage I would have a pickers dream landscape!!

Yes, where I purchased it from, they wrote Gold on the tag. Its a bit orangey though, part of the reason its so nice.

Oh, I know that feeling well. Some stuff become part of the family almost. These bikes are going that way, if they don't sell by Spring I imagine they won't be sold until they have both rolled over 100 000km at least.

The only thing that worries me about land is if I would be able to fill it with good stuff. Anyone can fill land with junk. Takes a real savvy person to fill it with gold.

Nope, never had that happen to me. I only have 'one' bike. But I'll agree with rocs...."if you must........sell one, keep [all the rest]" (paraphrased)

isn't that the one that some Harley owners decided to do their "testing' on? You know the one.....where they drained to oil, wired the throttle wide open, fired it up, and hung it upside down and let it rev until it finally blew up so they could say that the Yammy engines always blow up when over-revved......

Just kidding..........although there was a test similar to that awhile back.

    Yeah, nice snag.

I remember seeing that video as well. I think the Seca ran for over 20 min before it finally seized. I remember thinking that, with the way it sounded when it quit, you'd probably be able to rebuild it and have it running again.

probably! :) Actually, it would be kind of fun to do the same test on a Harley and see how it compares. LOL

That'd be an expensive test, but I'd like to see it...
