I just picked up a really clean '82 650 Maxim. It has 700 carbs and intakes on it now.The guy didn't block off all the vaccum lines(didn't know that 'til pulled the carbs off).It ran good after a shot of ether to get it started. He said it stated to miss around 60ish(vacuum leaks?).He put them on until the 650 carbs got rebuilt. So now I have a set of 650 rebuilt carbs but no intakes(threw them away, supossedly bad)And the 750 carbs and intakes. So my question is,what are my options? Can I run the 700 carbs,if so what am I going to need to do to make them work,if anything? or am I going to have to get a set of 650 intakes?

Get the right stuff for the bike or you're going to constantly be chasing gremlins.

A number of the bikes share the same carb bodies, but the jetting and needles are varied, so ,as far as I am concerned, you really need to make sure that you stay with what is factory. That way you WON'T be chasing your tail. ;)

Yeah,I haven't open them up yet.But I took the 700 carbs off and tried putting the 650 carbs on,only to find out the intakes are different. And of course the 650 intakes are the most expensive ones of all....my luck!
