Looks like a Can-Am roadster with a big fairing on it. Bet they are a blast to drive, but the thing looks a little goofy.

Basic price = basic looks, would look nice with a little stripe or some graphics.
Some hard bags or a small trunk would be nice. Definitely cheaper than a T-Rex.

I would rather have one of these for 6800.00 than pay 32000.00 for a Honda Gold Wing trike.

    ah! shmuck,
the " reliant robin", dont be too quick to mock!, i had one of those in the 70s , very practical, 700cc in line water cooled engine, carries 4 adults and luggage. The next step up from my only transport -- bikes, and i could drive it on a motorcycle licence, which then got me practical experience to pass my car test
did thousands of miles in it till i could afford a 4 wheel car.
yep those prats at top gear take the piss out of anything that wont do 150mph. 2 of em also hate motorbikes, all 3 hate trucks, vans, 4x4s
    and caravans........tossers

It's actually more like the ride Cousin It had in the Addams Family movie.

This thing was a Messerschmitt, what they made post-war when they couldn't make fighter planes any more.

It is also reported to have a top speed of 107mph, but I found that on a forum. Additionally it was said that it has a little 1ltr engine in it.

I'd take one. Hell I'm the only person ever in my car unless the wife's isn't running.

Good thing that Messerschmidt isn't green or it would look like Kermit The Frog.
1 liter/litre(whatever) 1000cc is what powers the T-Rex and the Can-Am. At least this one has AC and airbags, great deal for the money.

I was in England briefly in the 80's, saw loads of those things. Lower taxes because they are considered motorcycles. No reverse gear, or something.

As far as my take on T.G:

I agree, Top Gear is a little harsh on some things. I love the show, but there's a lot of pressure in America to "be positive" so that brand of humor is refreshing. That being said, their review of why the Ford F-150 is the world's most popular car was b.s. Clarkson said, "blah, blah, blah, and it's not cheap." Yeah, because they got the most souped up, expensive one they make. The Ford F-150 pickup is very cheap indeed compared to most of the prices Top Gear thinks are "reasonable" like 30,000 POUNDS, you know what that is in dollars? And what you can buy for that?

Edit: I did the math, 30,000 pounds is about $48,900. You can get a Ford F-150 for as little as $23,435 according to U.S. News and World Report. So for the price of something those guys like, such as a BMW M whatever it is, you could get 2.09 Ford pickups. And you can move furniture in them.

You'd think Jaguar was a relevant car company, watching that show, they can't shut up about them. Meanwhile, in the states, only people who...nope, I can't think of a demographic...insane rich people? I guess they might buy Jags.

As far as bikes, I'm pretty sure Hammond likes bikes, and I KNOW James May rides bikes, I read a book of his that somebody gave me and he talks about his motorcycles. It's really just that big arse Clarkson that hates bikes. And Hammond is practically American, he has a Dodge Charger and so forth, probably likes trucks as well.

If I recall correctly, the reverse gear was blocked off if you operated it with a bike licence. Upon obtaining an actual drivers licence you could have the reverse gear enabled, but then the tax and insurance went up accordingly. I always thought that "I" would be cool if I had owned one of these:
    (never did though)

i think Del and Rodney didn't do Reliant any favours! One of my friends had a "Supervan 3" - called a "Plastic pig" because of its fibreglass body - and painted it bright pink and wrote Porky racing across the windscreen!!

Did they ever transmit the program in the US when they buy 3 cars in the states (instead of renting) and drive through Florida?
Clarkson buys a Camero, Hammond a Pickup and May a Cadillac? They write rather rude slogans on each others cars and end up getting stoned by the locals!!

Yeah, we got that one here. Then they donated the cars snd got sued by the Katrina victims that got the car because the Camaro was older than they said. Welcome to America!

The company now has over 5,000 reservations for the vehicle so far. Looks like it will be successful for at least 1 year.
I think they should've put a hatchback with glass in it, maybe that will come later. Still think it's a good deal.

    But it's a Messerschmidt!

Although, I have to say that Mitsubishi and Saab made far better transition from planes to cars...
