Just got her pretty much done. I tried to keep it all period correct. All the bolt on parts have come from bikes I've found over the years. I put it all together and got this. It's exactly like my best friend Eddie's Seca. He got hit head on on Route 66 between Barstow and Victorville in 84. I always loved the Seca 550's and Eddie's was the coolest I had ever seen. He had just got his Cal-Fab swingarm right before he died. I remember he was so stoked about getting it. I drove a lot of miles to get all the different bikes it took to get this old girl done. I think my old friend would be proud.

The bike has new paint and graphics, a Euro/Japanese XJ400/550 dual disk front end with braided steel brake lines, air assist on the forks, K&L fork brace, Lockhart oil cooler, Supertrapp pipe, K&N pod setup, Cal-Fab swingarm, Raask rearsets. My buddy in Japan got me the engine covers.

I rebuilt the carbs to stock and added the pods. It runs great! Probably because I'm over 7000 feet elevation and I only have 4 disks in the Supertrapp..

Future mods include Works Trackers shocks. Maybe personalize it with a color matched front fender. I have a fender eliminator from Japan so I don't have to cut up my mint rear fender.

I'll soon be putting my hot rod motor in. It's got a massively ported head, Yosh cams, and a 60mm big bore kit along with some 26 Keihin CRs. Should be pretty stout for a 32 year old 550.

    NICE work.

Where'd ya find the Cal-Fab swingarm?

Great "period faithful" restofication. I love it.

    Thank you for the compliment.

I found the Cal-Fab on this bike I got for $500 outside of Phoenix a couple years ago. It had the hot rod motor that has the big bore, ported head, Yosh cams with 32mm FJ600 carbs. I also got the front end and the Cal-Fab. It had a Bassani Superbike Pipe that I've got hanging in the garage. I may try it and see if I can wake the dead. It's that loud.

What a huge difference in braking and front end feel compared to stock. It should have came this way. I have about 8-10 pounds of air in each leg and it feels perfect for my 225 lbs. The calipars rattle really bad. Every bump they make a loud clunk. They do work better than the single front disk.

I may spring for these and really have some good brakes.

    Thank you.

Nice work. While customizations are nice, it's good to see one restored back pretty close to stock. I've got an all stock 650 Seca I've owned since new, and it's all stock. The 550 was/is a very good looking ride.

Nice job! The '81 paint scheme has always been a favorite of mine. When I bought my '08 FZ1 last summer, I dropped $1,250.00 to get a retro body kit for it!

Added a Bassani Superbike Pipe and some 26 CR roundslide carbs. Bike runs great, and sounds good too!

Just found a Radian with no title. I'm going to yank the motor and do a big bore on it. See if my race ported XJ550 head with Yosh cams will fit. Then swap the Bassani and CRs. Should be a runner!

I had Wiseco make me it for me. Sent them my old big bore pistons that they no longer make rings for, they engineered me new pistons and rings.

    Great looking bike!
Since you bought so many bikes, do you happen to have a spare XJ550RJ Seca tank for sale?
