Has anyone put a "one up" size on both their front and rear tires on the seca 650? I found a back issue in Cycle World where they said or suggested to do this.

Not a bad idea, especially in front.

I haven't put new tires on my 650 Seca yet; but when I do it'll be a 100/90-19 front and probably a 130 on the rear.

I HAVE done it on the 550 Secas; and again, since the front is the only direct comparison I can tell you it's a very good idea. For some reason Yamaha fit unusually skinny OE front tires on all of the their street bikes of the era, right up through the 900s. Stock front tire was often a 3.00X19, or maybe a 3.25X19. In today's world, the replacement for that would be a 90/90-19, which is fine; but a 100/90-19 is better, more rubber on the road and it "fills" the fender better. (The 550 and 650 Secas use the same front fender.)

As for the rear, I believe popular consensus is a 130/90-18.

130/90-16 is the stock size on the maxim. With all the 650/750's sharing a common swingarm/final drive. There should be no problem moving up from the 120/90-18 stock rear to the 130/90-18.
