    Hello All,
Still having an issue with cylinders 1 and 4 cutting in and out on my 1981 Seca 750.
I have checked the leads for strength and the plugs for spark, they seem okay.
At start up, 1 and 4 never fire until I've warmed it and driven for a min or two. I know this by feeling the pipes for heat.

1 and 4 run off the same coil, 2 and 3 another.
If I switch them over to test the coil, would I cause any damage to the engine?

It still may be a carb issue but it seems strange that both cyclinders seem to stop firing simultaneously.
Thanks for any insight you may have, this site is invaluable for XJ owners.
    Keep up the good work!

    No problem.

    Swap 'em.
    That's the standard test.

Man, after cleaning carbs again, flushing tank, and changing lead plugs, I finally replaced the coil for 1&4 and presto.
Thanks for all the input everyone.
    Now awaiting the next problem...
    Thanks all
