    Depends -

    What year maxim?

Im assuming an 83, as the 81-82 atari type doesent look anything AT ALL like those from a 550 seca.

Furthermore, if its the "canned" type of the 83, the speedo will/should drop in with minor to no modifications.

However, if its the TACH, then no - the tach on your 750 maxim is electronic, whereas the 550 seca's is mechanical.

BUT - In the end, which i suppose i should have asked/addresed FIRST, is what constitutes a "broken needle"?

does it just not move? or is it broken in half?

If it's not moving and its the speedo, it could easily just be a broken speedo cable - a common failure

Or if it's the actual needle thats broken in pieces, you might be able to just swap the needle over from another gauge, or just pick up a new needle. or even just fix it - heres some links:

Thats great info, yes its the atari with an LCD display..
Everything works fine, authough the screen on the LCD has wrinkled and looks pretty rough.. That really the reason why i took it apart.

I broke the needle with my chubby fingers, cursed myself for doing it and was looking for alternatives as i cant find a needle anywhere!!

Thanks for the advice chap, i'll look at those links
