Just found this on a search, it's the only other 750E-II model I've seen online and hoping the owner is an active forum member since this was in the body of the text...

"reading the XJ Forums it appeared that the erratic idle problem would necessitate a carburettor clean "

EDIT-:Hang on, was the previous owner "Alive"? He mentions getting some fork parts from him... :?

Thanks, believe me I've been there already! From the specs listed though I'm not sure if I either have the wrong carbs/jets, or if the list is wrong, since my jets are nothing like the E-II spec listed & the carbs have supp. air jets in the carb mouths.

Added to this, the pics on that site do too, so I'm leaning towards maybe the info on here is out? (dare I day that?!? lol)

I've emailed the guy hoping he remembers what his jetting was (guess he'd remember the main fuels as they are shown as different for cyl 1/4 and 2/3)

    Cheers.

Ohhh, here's interesting, the plot thickens...

Can't post the pic to here but about halfway down that page is a pic of his HSC33 carbs, and between 1 and 2, and again between 3 and 4, above the fuel inlet pipes, there are a pair of extra pipes linking the carbs on each side as a pair. What on earth are those?

Awesome, the guy got back to me & is sending some pdf manuals 8) what nice people you meet on an XJ

Not so awesome, my jets ARE out, the info here IS spot on (kinda guessed it would be) and looking like I need to find some unobtanium HSC33's with code 29R00... or just jet these up to suit :? :? :?

Please let me know what your final jet setup is ... I'm more than a little curious.

I guess it will depend on whether the carbs are 32 or 33mm what I arrive at. If they are 33's then I guess the stock jetting would work since that was on 33's.

That said, I may very well have 32's so we shall see...

    Current jetting update for iandmac

    Carbs-: Hitachi HSC32

    Main fuel jets-: 118

    Pilot fuel jets-:43

    Main air jets-:80

    Pilot air jets-:195

    Needles-: Y-17

(running with air jet cover plates, and with air compensator jets in venturi ring)

Overall pretty similar to UK spec XJ750, the bike's been running on this setup but rain stopped play before I could warm the motor enough to block YICS and sync properly. Ran fairly well till the coils got rained on, possibly on the lean side but will keep an eagle eye on it as we progress.
