I am looking for someone in the Dallas area to give me some help. I have been fighting my 750 maxim and am officially surrendering. A few years ago I attended a local carb day with some really knowledgable guys and hope they might be on this site.

I have been maintaining this bike for years with no issues and it has always run perfectly but it set too long, I guess. Two carb cleanings have had no effect.

If there is anyone willing to help please send me a PM or email me at cole9900@Verizon.net. Beer and food will provided!

    Signed, Desperate.

    Don't give up now!

If you've taken the carbs off and cleaned them thoroughly, check them again. I thought I had mine "zestfully clean" and missed the tiny enrichment orifice in the float bowl. They were completely plugged on all four and no amount of carb cleaner or air pressure cleared the hole. I used a piece of stiff wire from a wire brush to clear them.

I had my carbs off 10 times before had done enough research to find all of the potential issues.

Tear down the carbs again, check every passage, and use the suggested methods for cleaning that are posted in these forums. They are very helpful. Use the search function (try "carb cleaning") and browse the chat strings. There's a lot of great information.

I found that with 4 rebuild kits, my laptop, and a free Saturday, I had the carbs cleaned, bench synched, and the floats set.

Wish I was closer to lend a hand and good luck.

Im in Arlington, perhaps I can take a look sometime next week? Ive got a Colortune, manometer and a good set of feeler gauges so we can take a look at it step by step.

Thanks for the replys. I am truly ashamed to admit to being a quiter but just want to do this one last time. No doubt that the problem with th bike is excessive inactivity. Prior to setting for months at a time the valves were adjusted, carbs were synched with a four tube manometer and carbs set with a color tune, and ran great.

But, that said, I am going to PM you, Edy, to see if we can get together.

Hey cole9900 and Special_edy, I'm also in the Dallas area. Nice to see some people representing Texas on here.
