I wouldn't have thought so I'm afraid, it depends what bike you're working with, what other parts you switch or modify & how far from stock you end up. At the very least you may have to rejet if they end up more free flowing, to avoid a lean condition and possible overheating.

Another point to be aware of with unequal lengths is that while you shouldn't cause too much of a problem if you keep the collector box, if you do away with that then there's the potential for different cylinders to have different flow characteristics & that'd cause rough running no amount of carb work'd cure.

That's not to say don't do it, just expect to re-jet and play with lengths/baffles etc to get her running just how you want

Other things being equal, I'd think that with different lenghts of exhaust you would have to jet the carbs differently. I'd say that longer exhaut would mean more back pressure, but I can't tell if that would lead to leaner or richer mixture.

yeah it's a 550 it has the collector box still, there is only about 4-6 inches difference in both pipes

Are you talking about MUFFLERS or head pipes? If you still have the collector box, you have the four original head pipes too?

If you just want to run slightly mis-matched mufflers, go for it. It may make it run a tad "off" but because everything gets scrambled in the collector box, there'd be no way you could re-jet or otherwise adjust the carbs to compensate.
