We can tell that owner likes yellow...

...seriously, my guess is that cluster and bars are the clue, I haven't seen this combo before.

That he bought it as a non-runner hoping for a quick fix, half-cleaned the carbs & it didn't start/run right so he decided to play the family card & get out?

    That it's about an '83?

    That it's way too pricey?

EDIT-: and also that it's been shoved in the back of the garage, not selling, since at least last summer judging by the parched ground in the pics...

Actually most lawns look like that year round in North Florida. Heavy compacted sand with centipede (crawling) type of weed we call grass.

It's a Maxim 1100. What's the big mystery (other than the owner hasn't a clue)?

We can tell that Canary Yellow Rattle-can Paint was on Sale someplace.

It's got a plate on it.
    That's sort-of a good sign.

    I guess.

Does the side-stand not work? The grab bar appears to have been drilled for no reason. It's lived outside a long time (not garage kept for most of the 30k). The mirrors aren't positioned even close to right. Bet the yellow is hiding some cancer.

I'd say it was bought cheap, 'fixed' cheaper by a non-xj, non-moto salesman looking to turn a $

Looks pretty much like any other '80s Yammie in need of a lot of work. Currently owned by someone with no clue.

The foremost thing I can say is it isn't worth $1000. MAYBE $600 or so, if it runs and makes good compression, and you like yellow. It seems to be pretty much all there (except for the aftermarket mufflers) but it's also had a lot of cosmetic stupidity applied. I suspect the spurious holes in the grab rail were attachment points for long-gone luggage of some sort.

Plus it would need all the standard stuff (brake lines, etc.) The yellow paint just knocks another couple hundred off the price.

That's the biggest thing I noticed, and the reason I figured he bought it to "fix up" but couldn't handle cleaning the carbs (or damaged the motor & plugged the jets up to hide this), guess he's priced it to recoup what he's already spent on it...
