Does any know if the fuel petc0ck from a FZ,FZX,FZR will fit on the tank of a Maxim X. The Fazer petc0ck is not vacuum operated by the look of them and looks like they may mount in the same holes in the tank. The first 3 part numbers are different however the next 5 are the same. nd based on the o-ring part number as pics I have seen, it looks like a possibility.

    26H-24500-00 for the fazer
    31A-24500-01 for the maxim x

Seems like they are cheaper to obtain than the original and it is not vacuum operated. Even the o-ring has the same 5 numbers for both bike models. Also just curious, does the first 3 digits in the part number designate what model the bike is?

31A is the XJ900RK the 1983 model and IS vac operated.

Getting the bolthole center-to-center dimension right would be important.

Why can't you rebuild your petcock ??

Maybe it will fit. Do your homework properly.
But in answer to the second part of your question,
no. Just look at this part number for the 1989 onwards FJ1200

Same part number. I've got an FJ one on my XJR tank fitted to my XS1100 because of the bolt hole centre to centre like T2R says.

I have a rebuild kit and am going to rebuild mine, I was just throwing it out there to see if anybody did try it, if it does fit then it would be an non vacuum operated alternative, with the fuel "OFF" built it.

I know the 31A is vacuum operated because it the same as one my Maxim X. I have a couple extra tanks that I am trying to learn how to paint and I may get one and give it a try I'll keep you guys posted either way.

That 26H petc0ck is about 32mm, centre to centre, if iremember. Just been and measured but seeing as the tank is on the bike not 100% sure.
Also it is an on/off tap but fuel is pumped to the carbs electrically on the later model FJ's.
The on/off is used for maintenance, so when the need to remove the tank comes it can be used to shut off the flow of petrol.
If you go for one of them be careful with the on/off as it is made of plastic and can shear off. I know, it happened to me, so now i've got another universal on/off tap in line.

It's possible if the bolt holes are the same centres, but not worth the hassle IMHO if the Fazer petrooster has a plastic handle.

Another thing to consider when using a non-standard petrooster is the reserve capacity may be different or non-existent which wouldn't be much fun :?

And don't forget when switching to non vacuum petrooster you'd need to get an extra vacuum nipple cover to replace the pipe.

I agree, if the plastic pieces are prone to breaking, then the time and effort wouldn't be worth it.

I just like saying Petrooster, thanks to Ecologito for adding a new "swear-filter safe" word to the XJer's dictionary :D
