Got out to put some miles on the bike today. was stopping at the store to grab some things. came out and had a problem getting it to stay running. had a friend give me a jump. left it in park. *smacks forhead*. then when i tried to put it in gear it died. we chech all fuses and starting looking for safety switches. found the kickstand switch was completely missing!!!! :O they were tied together to send a up signal but the stand pulled them apart. so i get to do wiring after work tomorrow charging the battery again now. can anyone tell me how to check for draw with the key off? and i know the charging starts at 2200rpm. its supposed to be 14.5v on the battery right?

To check for draw with the key off, you disconnect the earth lead & put your multimeter between the battery negative & the earth lead, use the highest amps setting to start with & don't switch anything on while testing this way.

Charging should show around 14.5v max. above 2200 rpm, with a fully charged battery.

I'm guessing the battery was flat when you came to the bike, as you're wanting to check for draw with ignition off? If that's the case you can check the battery isn't discharging by itself too by fully charging it, disconnecting & leaving it off the bike for a few days then testing the voltage. Should hold around 12.65v for at least a week.

Well i charged the battery. it must have a dead cell. it wont hold over 10.4v but i noticed when i pulled the leads off. battery not even in i had .13v on the main fuse.(original fuse box) ordered a aftermarket to replace it. the old fuse was black and brown. it was jumping across and kept draining the battery during my testing. the main was burning up. the prong broke when i tried to take the fuse off. i grabbed the wires and jumped them and the fuse box is causing all my problems with starting.
