    Hello, all.

My name is Rick, and I am not only new to the XJ ownership community, but this is my first motorcycle period. It has been a fun build so far, and my visitor access to your forum has provided some much-needed direction. I have an '85 Maxim XJ700 that I bought off craigslist and brought home dry and in pieces in the back of my Blazer. The original intent was to use the shaft-drive configuration to power a golf cart, but plans changed and practicality won out over outlandishness. I am now many (sometimes frustrating) man-hours into my first bike build.

I've gathered that in addition to the technical X's and O's of bike work, a big draw is progress photos of builds. Having never been one to take many pictures, and considering this purchase was made with a different goal in mind, I really do not have any before-and-after type collections. But I'll gladly, and truthfully have been meaning to, get a few pictures of what I have going thus far.

Where it stands now, I received a small batch of parts I was waiting on to finish body-work, paint and (hopefully) final assembly on the front end. My next task is to do a bunch of math to re-jet for pods and a much less restrictive exhaust, and to re-sync the carbs I so enthusiastically disassembled to clean. Like a wrench-happy rookie. From what I have seen so far, I'm in for some fun with that one.

No real tech questions with this post, just wanted to give a 'hello' to everyone and introduce myself and my XJ.

Hey to another XJ member from the OH. We all like build pictures. It reminds some of us of the time when all we had was a rolling chassis or less and several boxes of parts, a little bit of gumption and dreams of two wheeled revelry.
Good luck on the project. Hope you have her up by this season. It's getting to be pretty nice around this neck of the woods.
