Everyone keeps telling me to powdercoat the tank I'm putting on, but I'm going to paint it. 1. I prefer to do it myself, and 2, I can't afford powdercoat. Also, the inside of the tank has been Kremed. I don't know what the "cooking" would do to the coating. What do you more experienced guys think? Thanks in advance.

I think the powdercoater would be able to answer that question rather quickly. Not much impressed with fuel vapors in a 250 degree oven!

When that kreme liner starts peeling in about 2 years you can remove it with muratic acid. Then find a liner that actually works! (Caswells, Por 15, Redcoat (dragons blood)).

Agreed. Por 15 is bulletproof if you follow the directions to a 't'. Not sure about the others but the curing process for por15 is opposite of 99.9% of other coatings/paints in that when atmospheric moisture is present (not on your tanks surface though) it cures faster. What that really means is that there will be no surface penetration of moisture during the curing process which can negatively effect all the others. It creates a totally non-porous surface. I was amazed at how quickly it hardened once it was exposed to the air.

If you properly prep your tank's surface, use a quality metal primer, a quality paint, and 2k clear it will look bueno and last a long time. Light coats all the way through and keep the conditions right (temp/humidity).

I thank you very much guys. I don't know how long the Kreme's been there, a buddy got it from a estate sale.
