I just installed a new mini speedometer on my 81 XJ650 and removed the old unit. What is the best thing to use to plug the tachometer line on the motor?

I believe that bike has a cable driven tach, Rick. And he was asking about a block off cap if I'm not mistaken.

As always, Len (xj4ever) has what you need!!

HCP7521 OEM tachometer cable drive gear housing BLOCK OFF CAP. If you decide to replace your cable-driven tach with something else, this block-off cap screws onto to the cable adapter in places of the tach cable, and prevents grit and grime from getting into the engine. Fits all XJ550 models, 1980-81 XJ650 Maxim and Midnight Maxim models, and 1982 XJ650 Seca model. Bright plated.

PM member Chacal or email info@xj4ever. He'll hook you up!

Since I didn't need the cable itself I used the cap of the cable and two discs to seal it (one in rubber to make a good seal)
