I have a pump especially designed for air forks. I can't get it or any other pump to fit to put air in the forks.

The handle bars are right over the air nozzle, I get tired of having to take the handle bars off when I want to put air in.

Is there a mod or something I can do to make it easier to put air in the forks?

    Chris.

I don't know how much room you have, but maybe you could take the original valve out & replace it with 90* angled valve next time the top cap's off?

Failing that, how about a dual-wheel valve extension (the ones that allow you to inflate the inner wheel from the outside)?

Wonder if the nozzle can be switched to a 45 or 90 degree nozzle? Worth looking into.
I hate air assisted forks, If it was me, I'd switch them over to non-air assist.

I made my own system to air fill my forks. Basically I use the standard angled fitting that I use to fill the air in my tires. But I also have a regulator behind that to give accurate air pressure. I can take a pic if you like.

I'm visual, so pics would be great!

We looked up at the shop and found my year (83) is a totally different then the other years. They did come with valves that where turned, just not in my year.

    Thank you,
    Chris.

    These arrived from Amazon today:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002F ... UTF8&psc=1

And they work great! ($10, free ship.)
I drilled a center hole in each of the existing black plastic covers, so they slide right over the new extenders and seat as intended. The extenders pivot to accommodate your air pump style. (You don't even need to remove the handlebars to install them.)
