There's a switch in the mount for the clutch lever. It's likely broken or not working. That will aloow it to start in gear so long as the clutch is pulled in. Switch costs about $12 and I got mine at bikebandit.

It clips into the clutch mount and plugs in behind the headlight. Atleast it did on my 650.

The Safety Relay is messing you up.

When they go bad ... you can't start the bike unless you are looking at a glowing Green Neutral Light. That's the default safety feature kicking in.

I think it's the relay below Igniter on 750 Seca.

What you need to know is:

The SAFETY Relay is NOT a Generic -- like all the rest -- relay.
    It's wired differently.

Replacing the safety relay with a generic relay is dangerous and I'm shocked that the connectors are the same.

I test relays using jumpers and a smoke-detector type 9V battery to test if its closing and opening as it should.

If you want to peel it open and mess with it trying to get it to work again ... there's folks, in here, who will tell you how.

I usually order a new one or use a known good one and see how far I can send the old one with a 2006 Hillerich & Bradsby.
