heres the scoop guys, got my front end on and realized that It calls for a 120\70zr17. I am just wondering if the rear tire being an 18 is going to be a problem.?Eventually I'd like to switch the rear end out completely for a mono shock and a disc brake rear wheel. At that time I would probably opt for something wide..hmm maybe the rear swing arm and wheel off the GSXR750 I JUST GOT FOR $50! (Carb fire)I'll repost pics later let me know what ya think. I'll apologize for the mess in advance. Mixing and matchin parts off 4 or 5 bikes in the yard can make for quite the view!

Shouldnt be a problem. Its going to quicken your steering with that front end!! Those forks will be a HUGE improvement though
    Do you have pics!?
I've ALWAYS wanted to do this.
Did you need triple trees? or did the forks slide right into stock?
    Gauges?
    Very curious

Bridgestone Battlax BT45s come in both a 120/90-18 rear and a 120/70-17 front.

As do Avon RoadRider AM26s, my personal choice.

I just got some 07 gsxr forks for my rebuild :D along with a 2011 ducati multistrada 1200 wheel and brembo discs :D

cant wait to see how yours turns out man!

to SLKid, yep you need matching upper and lower trees off of the bike that the forks belong to, the new USD forks are much much wider than the old ones. Allballsracing.com has steering bearings for thousands of different fork swap combinations, i don't know about R1 but for my GSXR forks all i need are 2 matching bearings and the hardware for the stem and it bolts right on.

and Remo if you can get that gsxr swingarm on there without serious frame mods please show how ! because that will be much easier than what i'm about to do to this stock swingarm haha

Cool mod. The front end swap is popular on a lot of bikes lately.

I have been battling what tires to run on my bike too!!! Right now I have a miss matched old set on there and need to replace them. There are a few good ones out there that would be a matching set, let me know what you go with and how they look. Lets see some pictures of your swap, search for my build and fork conversion and you will see how i added the R6 front end to my cafe racer.

IV seen alot on this site about these r1 and r6 front ends put on XJ's. Is this possible with my 82 xj750j? And if so is there already a thread in detail possibly? And I must say what a Gnarley convertion this is.

well hard to say, I never had the original, just the ninja frontend. however i think the R1 frontend weighs less than the original because of its magnesium parts.good question though.

no I didn't send anything as I am a no class no account junkyard dog. haa. No i used the triples off the r1 and bearings. had to trim a nub off of somewhere with the grinder was all i remember. truth be said i never had a stock front end to begin with. I think any one can do this mod provided they have, A: the gumption, and B: the complete triple tree and front end,Ideally complete from bars, throttles, triple trees, bearings and disc brakes preferably matching tire, (although I had to redneck engineer mine) you could do better. with $! my swap cost me a whopping $8 through junkyard luck. cheers more pics real soon as i have neared finish and been riding alot
