Does anybody know of an easy way to get my friends boat removed from my garage so I have room to start preparing my bike for the upcoming riding season?

But on a bit more serious note I have heard talk about working on bikes and documenting the work done with pictures and what not...what format and where should such information be sent once collected?

Looking forward to working with everyone here...just got to get my garage cleaned out...

JPEG is a nice format - it compresses well later and is a nice format for working with... just snap picture along the way and if no one else can do something with it I'll be happy to mash it into a webpage for you.

if a web page is where it would all end up in the end then I can put together the pics and documentation in a .html document just fine...

thanks for offering you help though...

the boat I am not really worried about, we will probably move it this weekend or early next week...

well - it could be cd material but that isn't my project so I couldn't speak to that... certainly it could be put into one of these posts, would help some of us out.

Woot, can you give me some sort of an idea how to even start to do something like what your talking about. there have been times I could have done something like that, when I built my forks or painted my tank.
But I have no idea how to get started.
Maybe you could give me a link that could hep me. It would be easier than trying to explain it all.
Or could I find this info here in my computer somewhere.
    Thanks

The link below is a nice place to try out certain things using HTML...It gives you the basics for creating a web page.

    http://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp ... ml_imglink

    or simply

    http://www.w3schools.com/html for more general information.

you can use a simple text editor to create web pages...save the file with a .html extension and open it with firefox, internet exploer, or whatever browser you use.

I you have any questions let me know...

Front tire wobble - tire, bearings, head bearings, head too loose... bent forks... could be the rear tire too

Jdrich48: About making webpages - very simple to very complicated. For a simple howto - keep it simple. :) Would you like a html crash course? I'd be up for giving a really simple online course... :)

There are lots of places to host this type of thing... personal space on one of the free servers, my server, this server (if there was interest again I don't have anything to do with this server... :)) and a number of other places...

I can already see this is way over my head.
It's like trying to learn Japanese, and I have enough trouble with english.
    Thanks anyway :)

Well - the truth of the matter is that anyone can do it - it's easier than basic math... but we ( cs people ) like to get paid well and we'll charge as much as we can... if you think it is rocket science you'll just pay us...

same thing with motorcycles isn't it - the first time you pay someone if you can... then you see or hear someone else doing it... you watch, learn a bit and then when you go and do it -- well it is easier than you thought. Next time you're whipping through it and somebody else is watching with awe.

Seriously... it's easy and I bet you can pick it up in a few minutes... :)

I will second that woot, you can take it as far as you want!

    I like this...
Regardless...thanks for the hints on where to start looking once I get to working on my bike. The rear tire is supposed to be new, and the front shocks were supposed to be redone recently but I guess I will see.

I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for. If you are working on an XJ why start another site? This would be the best place for documenting XJ related work so we all can learn and share XJ experience.

If you want to document and log your stuff here, then there are multiple options. You could start a thread in a forum where you would describe step-by-step process. You would upload pictures in the thread and everyone can put in their 2 cents and we’ll all learn from your process.

I you want a more diary like progress you could start a Blog for things that you’ve done. Again you can upload pictures in the gallery and reference them in your Blog.

There are many ways to do things but the idea is to keep in one place so we don’t have to hunt for things all over the place. That’s why I started this site…

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers...LOL.

I haven't participated too much in a site like this so I'm just trying to get a feel for how things work here. You suggestions about threads and blogs make sense so my question has been answered, thanks.

From what I have seen so far I love the site. I am looking forward to learning, helping, and just participating in the future.
