rear swing arm help

    i have a 1982 yahama maxim 750, i have had a wobble since i bought this bike. tire in rear is mabye a sheet of paper from drive shaft, was told the bushing in the final drive could have been over tightened and how much space should there be. the bushing is level with the out side of the drive but also found bad u joint. looking for torq spec on the bolts holding swing arm in place. thanks for the help matt

    I'd replace rear wheel bearings (first step) and cut down on the width of the back back tire by 10mm (second step). If there is any play in the rear wheel bearings, you'll be dragging the tire on the drive shaft sleeve every time you take a corner or the tire looses a bit of pressure.

    the wheel bearings are tight so is the swing arm. the only thing i can find is that the rear tire is very close and the slight play in the u joint. i dont know how close the rear tire should be to the drive shaft

    both tires are the factory size per what the owners manual calls for.

    You're missing something then, it shouldn't be that close to the drive shaft.

    the bushing was flush with the outside until I hit it with a hammer to push the tire over. have not tried it yet, was wondering how far in the bushing needs to be

    this is where the tire is rubbing up against the rear drive shaft.

    Have you checked the parts fiche? Maybe you are missing something, or its in wrong?

    i did look at the parts fiche and all parts are there but they dont show the bushing in the hub
