    You'll appreciate this then.

Parked my bike outside a small restaurant yesterday (in Brown City, MI) at dinner time. There was one other bike at the curb, a Harley 'dresser.' I heard other big V-twins rumbling while I was inside.

At some point, as I always do, I got up to check on my bike. Had to get up and go to the entry "foyer" of the restaurant and when I looked outside---

There was a whole CROWD of "Harley types" standing around my Seca, pointing things out, discussing it, etc...

I went back to finish my dinner. Eventually a couple came in, carrying helmets and wearing all the requisite Harley gear. The guy looked over at me "that your Yamaha outside?" "Nice bike."

    I thanked him, of course.

I find that alot of the Harley guys remember fondly their little XJs that they had back in the day.

People that ride tend to like bikes in general and lets face BF's bikes are in mint condition. M-G's looks pretty good as well so the people in the know or have a genuine interest, admire and appreciate them for what they are.
I'm Harley curious I must admit [outed!] but it's the people with all that branding that put me off the idea,I just don't get the whole routine.I understand the bit about american made and the patriotism angle for you in the U.S and admire it to a degree but for some reason the whole 'culture' marketing routine has transplanted itself here as well.
As a friend of mine tells me at certain bike events "The seppo love is strong here Web Page Name
A bike worthy of admiration is just that no matter where it's from, maybe it's how it looks or maybe where it's been or maybe just because it's yours.
I rode down to visit my Mum a year or so ago, while I was out the back having a beer with her partner she comes out with this puzzled look on her face"Glenn, there is some guy out the front who want's to talk to whoever owns the bike?"
So I pop out the front and here is this great big tattoed, pony tailed guy with the best beard I've ever seen [I cant grow one] and he just wants to chat about my bike because he had one back in the day.And mine is a long way from being clean and neat especially with the bugs of 1500k's all over it.
Happened 3 or 4 times that week while I was stopped for fuel or just parked.
