Because my engine makes an awful lot of faulty noise, I decided to swap the engine so I can keep driving around while fixing the broken engine. You can read about that here: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=43075.html

While following the manual on how to remove the engine from the bike frame, I have to disconnect 4 connectors. 3 out of 4 are no problem, one however is, because there is no connector! And the replacement engine does have a connector.

Now my problem is, how do I reconnect those without screwing up after I've cut them. Does it matter on which other end they are connected to? They're all white, so that makes me think that it doesn't matter.

To make things more clear, here are some pictures:
The connector on the replacement engine, three wires -> 1 connector

The same three wires as on my bike, without connector. The black plastic wrappings are how they are currently connected.

This is were the three wires (white) lead to:

    The final destination:

I think the three white wires are from your alternator and final destination is the regulator where a/c current is converted back to dc voltage and then onward to the battery.

As each leg (white wire) is connected at 120 degrees apart reconnecting should perhaps follow in sequence. if this is critical however i'm not sure?

peel back the taped connections and meter them out to the regulator and see if they follow some sort of order or are random,

Sure you must be able to buy a new multi connector and or bullet connectors that will make life easier when swapping out>

We do have the proper 3-place connector and wire-end terminals, drop me a note for details.

Thanks chacal! I've dropped you a note.

According to the schematics inside the manual and the comments of some people that I've asked to look at them, the ordering of the white wires should not matter, so I've decided to just cut them and reconnect them after I've swapped the engines and see if it works. If the battery is charging, I'm happy :)
